Good hiking opportunities in the area. The coastal path in Svelvik is a total of 13.5 kilometers long and extends from Svelvik center to the border with Sande municipality. The trip starts in the idyllic center of Svelvik, one of the highlights of the trip with small houses, narrow roads, shops and restaurants, and not least proximity to the sea. The first part of the coastal path is well marked in the alleys to the south and goes down to the sea where possible.

The Grunnane nature reserve offers fine coastal nature and rich bird life with a great view over the Drammensfjord. The area is approx. 2,940 acres and has registered more than 130 different bird species. When ice-free, the area is a popular habitat for gray herons, ospreys, ducks, geese, cormorants and swans.

Many great swimming opportunities in the area. At Knemstranda beach, there are outdoor toilets, benches, and good parking facilities. Fishing opportunities in Drammensfjorden, and fishing in Svelvikstrømmen is an exciting experience with Norway's second strongest tidal current.

Ferry from Svelvik and over to Hurum if you want to take a trip to the other side. About 30 km to Drammen, if you should fancy some city feeling, and only 60 km to Oslo.
